Buffy Summers walked along the deserted beach smiling happily. She closed her eyes and let the wind wash over her bringing her the salty smell of the sea. She looked down and admired the tan she'd gotten so far. The black bikini brought it out nicely.
In the distance, she saw a figure walking toward her. She stopped where she was wondering who it was. She'd been enjoying the time alone. She had so little of it now that the Potential Slayers took up most of her house.
He was dressed in an unbuttoned red silk shirt and tight leather pants that left nothing to the imagination. Buffy felt her breath hitch ever so slightly as a shiver of excitement raced up and down her spine.
"Giles?" She said in confusion when he stopped in front of her. "W...what are you doing here and why are you dressed like that?"
It was a long way from the tweed suits he used to wear as her librarian.
Giles didn't answer. He smiled at her sadly and ran a gentle hand down her cheek. Buffy trembled. This didn't make sense. This was Giles!
"Do you care for me, Buffy?" He asked with a deep sigh.
"Of course." Buffy replied suddenly worried. "Giles, what's wrong?"
"She's coming, Buffy." Giles whispered sadly. "She's coming and I can't stop her. I won't be able to help you. I'm sorry. It was neccessary. At the time, it was neccessary. I didn't think he would remember. I didn't think he would call her, but he has. And there is no way to fight her."
"Who Giles?" Buffy asked. "Whoever it is, we can fight her. It's what we do."
Giles looked down at the sand sadly. When he looked back up at Buffy, there were tears in his eyes. Buffy stepped closer to him and placed a hand on his hairy chest.
"There is always a way to stop whatevers coming, Giles." She whispered breathlessly. "We just have to work together to find it."
"Your not strong enough, Buffy." Giles whispered hoarsely. "I wish to god you were but she's not mortal and..."
"Giles, I took Glory. She was a hell god. Whatever it is, we'll be ok. Just tell me what I need to do."
Giles opened his mouth to speak but no sound came. The sun suddenly disappeared and darkness surrounded them. In the distance, echoes floated to her. It sounded as if hundreds of people were being tortured. A red light shone in the darkness and slowly moved toward them.
"Giles!" Buffy exclaimed, tears and panic filling her eyes.
He hadn't told her who was coming. She couldn't stop it without him! She didn't know what to do.
"Giles, please!" She sobbed as she wound her arms around Giles waist holding him to her. "Tell me what's coming."
She felt his arms come around her in response but his face remained blank like an empty canvas. Buffy leaned up and kissed Giles. His mouth opened and Buffy felt dizzy as their tongues mingled and danced. Her eyes closed and gave in the tinging sensation that filled her body.
She ran her hands softly up his arms and pushed the shirt of his shoulders. Giles undid the catch in the back of her bikini top and ran his hands lightly over her nipples. Buffy's head fell back and she moaned, deepening the kiss.
Suddenly, Giles was gone.
Buffy's eyes flew open. The red light surrounded her blocking everything from sight.
"Giles!" She screamed into the light not caring that she was half naked. " Giles! Where are you?"
The red light in the distance grew until it was all she could see.
"You think you can take him from me, child." A sultry female voice said haughtily. "He is mine as he should have been a long time ago. You have not the strength, the stamina to outlast me.":
"I have more than you realize." She yelled! "I will get Giles back! You are the one who's nothing! He belongs to me! You will not take him!"
Buffy stood in the red light, screaming Giles' name. She had to fight for him. Giles was everything.
"No one recovers from Aphrodite's kiss!" The voice boomed. "You will die trying!"
"I've already died twice!" Buffy yelled back. "I'll take that risk! You're not taking, Giles!"
Buffy started screaming his name once more. She began to shake violently. She heard Giles calling her name. It got louder and louder...
Buffy sat up in bed, sweat pouring from every pore in her body. She groggily looked around the room. Dawn sat on the edge of her bed a worried look on her face. Buffy tried to smile reassuringly and broke down in tears. The heartache and fear of the dream were still with her. She was confused.
The anger she'd gone to bed with was still there. But now there was an underlying fear. She could never forgive Giles for stalling her while Wood tried to kill Spike but that didn't mean she didn't care for him. Had the dream been one of her prophetic dreams or had it been the type of dream she'd read about in Psychology 101? Was the dream telling her that she would lose Giles if she didn't let go of her anger or was there a real threat? What was Aphrodite's kiss?
"Buffy, are you okay?" Dawn asked worriedly. "You screaming Giles' name?"
"I think it was a dream." Buffy rambled. "A very bad dream. But I...I have to talk to Giles. I have to make sure."
"He's not here." Dawn said.
"Not here!" Buffy exclaimed, jumping out of bed. "Where did he go?"
"Why?" Dawn asked, her fear showing on her face. "Buffy, what's going on?"
"Dawn." Buffy tried to hold onto her temper. "I don't have time for twenty questions. Where did Giles go?"
"He...he got a call. Willow went with him." Dawn replied nervously. "Someone said they found a way to use magic to defeat the First. They were supposed to meet the person at nine o'clock at Ridgefield Cemetary."
Buffy looked at the clock. It was eight thirty. She tried to calm herself down. As far as she knew it was just a dream, a very bad confusing dream. She quickly pulled on her black leather boots and ran her fingers through her hair.
"Is Xander still here?" Buffy asked as she lead the way downstairs.
"Yeah. He's downstairs talking to the potentials." She replied.
Buffy nodded her head and almost ran downstairs. Xander got up off the couch, with a startled expression on his face. Anya moved away from the girls and stood beside him a concerned expression on her face.
"Buff, what's up?" He asked worriedly.
"I don't know yet, but I have to find out." Buffy said as she grabbed the black leather jacket Angel had given her off the coat rack. "Take Dawn and the potentials to your apartment. Don't let anyone other than me, Giles or Willow in. I think Giles might be in danger."
"The First?" Anya asked.
"Something different." Buffy said as she put on the jacket. "I can't answer questions now. I have to find Giles and make sure he's alright."
Xander nodded his head.
"Alright, girls! You heard Buffy gather some clothes together. Only what you can carry." He ordered.
Buffy gave him a weak smile and went out the door. She ran towards Ridgefield Cemetary. She had to know if Aphrodite's kiss was real and what it was. She'd examine the rest of the dream later. All that mattered now was keeping Giles safe.
